Affiliate Income

You're thinking you will advertise your business on the Internet and you have heard about affiliate income. What is that, you are wondering.

I use affiliate sites to send traffic (people) to my websites. I place ads on these sites, but I also am an affiliate of these ad sites, so this gives me the possibility of earning affiliate income from them, too. That sounds rather complicated, I know. So I’ll break it down.

There are many websites where we can place our own ads for free, at least to begin with. Some of them allow us to advertise in bigger and better ways if we pay them a monthly fee. Still, it is possible to get an idea of how this will work out before spending any money.

First, you must have a website that you want to advertise.

These companies that pay affiliate income also may provide you with a website or your own link that you can use in your ads for sending send traffic. So you would join several companies, and then you could advertise one of them on the sites of the others.

Read to the end of this page and I will explain the income possibility with this.

eBay Business

While we wouldn't ordinarily think of eBay as an affiliate income opportunity, there are ways it can be.

Lots of people are writing articles about how to make money on eBay, and these are sold as ebooks. An ebook is a document which can be emailed and delivered electronically through a download. In other words, you click on a link and then download the ebook to your computer so you can save it, read it and print it.

Many of these informative ebooks can be used as a product. Usually you would purchase the product first to make sure it is something you would feel good about representing. Then you could sign up as an affiliate for the item. When you refer people to your link, and they purchase the item, you earn affiliate income from that sale.

Here is one example:

Tom Barnes, a 10-year veteran on eBay wrote a book on his success. The following link, which has my affiliate data imbedded in it, takes you to his sales page.

Social Networks

There are many Social Networks established for the purpose of people finding people. By using these, you can make friends with others who are interested in business opportunities. Start with one of those listed below and set up your own profile. You will want to write something about yourself and your business on your profile page, which is where other members first learn about you. Keep in mind that these are friends’ networks, and treat others in a friendly way as you get acquainted with them. Write your profile as if you are talking to a special friend and sharing some of your interests. Also, post a photo of yourself so people can get to know you.

Signature Line (Sig Line) In the Social Networks, you will exchange emails with other members. You can set up your own Sig Line that will automatically be included in each email message you send. Here are the items you may want to include:

  • Your name
  • Your phone number or email address
  • Your business website link
  • One simple line of information that will attract attention and create curiosity in the reader so they will be tempted to click on your link. Sort of a teaser.

Once you have completed your profile setup, you are ready to invite other members to be your friends. Each Social Network has a quick and easy way to do this, but it is done one member at a time, just like making friends in real life. Take a look at a profile, decide if they would be a good friend to you, and then issue an invitation to them. This is an opportunity to tell them a little about yourself and/or your business, though you should keep this friendly, not a hard sell.

Check the site daily to Accept new friends and respond to emails you receive. Don’t get too sidetracked by all the offerings you see advertised. Check out some things that look interesting, but keep your goals and dreams in mind.

Spend some time learning about each Social Network you join. Look for their methods of advertising and their training programs. Also, learn how to sign up affiliate members, so you get credit (and money) for bringing your contacts into the network. Here are my favorite Social Networks:

Online Advertising

Traffic Swarm

Traffic Swarm allows you to post ads for free. Earn credits by clicking on the ads presented when the site opens. If you want a lot more credits to use for displaying your ads and the ability to place larger ads, you will need to upgrade to a Pro membership at $30.00 per month. A word of caution here: Don’t get sucked in to the detail in the ads you click on to earn credits. Also, don’t be tempted by the products Traffic Swarm shows on the log-in pages. It is okay to just click on past them!

Online Classified Club Click above, and then scroll about half way down the page and click on the banner for: Online Classified Club

$30 investment in this club sets you up for the possibility of placing your classified advertisements in thousands of locations at no further cost to you. Again, don’t be persuaded to spend extra money on their other services until you try the basics.

Affiliate Income

Here is an example of how you earn affiliate income from these activities. You might want to sign up for Direct Matches to begin with. You find you like the people there, and you decide to advertise your Direct Matches link on some other sites. People who click on your link and sign up will usually start out with a free trial. Should they decide to upgrade to a monthly fee, you would earn a portion of that fee they pay each month.

It is very important for you to check out the affiliate information on the Direct Matches site or any other you join so you know what is required of you to be eligible for their particular affiliate income program. And be patient. These things take a while to build.

Following up with the new people who sign up from your link is very important. Email or call them to welcome them. Let them know they are important to you. The business, Direct Matches in this case, will provide plenty of training, but it’s really nice for you to make them feel welcome.
